Dear friends,
I've got an important announcement to make...
Eliss agreed to marry me on Christmas Day!
This is something that I planned for quite a while.
After the Christmas service, I brought her to Maxwell Market for a late dinner. We strolled along Club Street to enjoy the evening breeze.
Then, I decided to bring her to the new boutique hotel, called the Scarlet Hotel along Erskine Road. I checked out its website a few days a go and really like the feel of it. Red is one of my favourite colours anyway.
Anyway, I wanted to buy her dessert at the restaurant, unfortunately it closed at 10.30pm. I was like, no!
So we went down to the lounge instead. Amidst the plush cushions and high back sofa, it was total bliss with chill out music as the background. We ordered some drinks and chatted away.
I kept looking at my watch, hoping that midnight will come soon.
The Indian couple were still squabbling. They have been there for more than half an hour.
They suddenly stood up and left the place. Mai tu liao!
I quickly made an excuse to pick up the camera from the car. I hid in the solitaire ring in one of the compartments. I grabbed it and ran back.
My heart was racing when I sat beside her, with the ring in my Levi's 501 pocket (read: tight pocket with an obvious bulge).
I was very nervous and made another excuse to go to the bar counter. I browsed the counter and saw the unique shaped champagne flutes. I told the bartender my intentions.
The hostess came to my aid too. She said she'll bring the glasses over, ask me to go back and relax.
She brought a rock glass filled with shaved ice, and a piece of plastic ice which blinked scarlet. She asked Eliss to have a sip at the content and take out the blinking ice.
Eliss found the ring within the ice and I knelt down and asked if she'll marry me.
She hesitated, and agreed!

My Fiancee
This is really an experience of a life time!

The beautiful place where I popped the question
The diners in the lounge cheered and clapped! The hotel even brought us 2 glasses of champagne, on the house! Then each of the service staff came up and congratulated us!
